A Journey Through Europe
-Early Years-
My parents’ worldly adventures sparked much curiosity in this young child’s mind. Their giant world map, adorned with pushpins, fueled my curiosity, which grew the desire to see more of Europe.
I first visited Paris was at age 14. By 20, I had lived in Italy and explored several European countries. Youthful travels continued to Crete, Mykonos & Athens, to Italy’s Dolomites and the Swiss Alps, around all of France, and Belgium.
Special memories come forth when thinking of first experiences in France. Of staying at La Mère Poulard on Mont Saint-Michel and enjoying Loire Valley château light shows at Châteaux Chambord and Chenonceau. Seeing Versailles the first time, and the Le Mans car race from the front row. As a skier, I skied Samoëns, Chamonix in France, Cortina, Val Badia and Madonna di Campiglio in Italy. I even circled Corsica on a Vespa. I was able to visit Château Lafite Rothschild in Bordeaux and I will forever remember as a naive 20 year old, hearing the cellar master yell “don’t leave the wine in the car!” as we drove away.
